Security Measures
Security measures are criminal sanctions that aim to educate, protect, heal, treat, and prevent dangerousness, which are applied to the accused who commits the crime in connection with the crime, related to the subject of the crime or in connection with the tool used in the commission of the crime. In Article 223/6 of the Criminal Procedure Code; It is stated that if it is proven that the accused committed the crime, a security measure will be imposed instead of a certain punishment or together with the conviction.
Security measures are listed between Articles 53 and 60 of the Turkish Penal Code. These are deprivation of the exercise of certain rights, confiscation, security measures specific to children, security measures specific to the mentally ill, security measures applied to recidivists and special dangerous offenders, deportation and security measures for legal persons.
